Cupcake decorating

If you’ve ever marvelled at custom cupcakes and wished yours could look as beautiful, here’s your chance to learn from an expert! Our instructor will teach you skills that you can do at home, using simple cake decorating tools. At the end of the workshop, you’ll take home a box of your own delicious creations!
You’ll learn to spread and pipe buttercream icing like a pro, use subtle and vibrant paste colours, roll and cut marzipan to create decorative shapes, and adorn your cakes with glitter, sprinkles and more! Additional information
Janine Rose is a specialist in decorative cakes and provides a bespoke wedding and celebration cake service, supplying exquisite cakes designed exclusively for each client.
Originally she worked as a textile designer then retrained as a patisserie chef, baking at some of London’s best patisseries and then specialising in cake decoration. In 2005 she combined her two passions, baking and design, to launch her own business, Janine Rose Cakes. Janine has supplied major clients such as Rick Stein and Selfridges and now concentrates on the bespoke side of the business. ‘I research pattern and colour and produce cakes that look fresh and contemporary,’ she says. ‘For example, I was recently inspired by the trend for embellishment and vintage jewellery, and created a collection of individual cakes iced with sparkling jewel-like decorations.’
Leigh Koh hasn’t always been a pastry chef. She quit a career in advertising and events and went to culinary school in New York City to pursue her dream. After graduating, she worked with reknowned cake designer Ron-Ben Israel, where she developed her skills for creating exquisitely-styled wedding and celebration cakes.
She moved to London in January 2009 and now divides her time as a pastry chef at Michelin-starred Mayfair restaurant Sketch and as the owner of her own bespoke cake and pastry business, CRAFT. When asked what she finds most fulfilling about her drastic career change, Leigh says, ‘I love being able to put a smile on the faces of complete strangers with the cakes and pastries I create.’
