Not Your Granny's Crochet Squares

Join us for a modern take on the ‘granny square’! You’ll fashion classic crochet building blocks that form the foundation for handbags, headbands, place mats and blankets!
You’ll learn to crochet in the round, create lace techniques, use new crochet stitches, plus learn techniques to attach two or more pieces of crochet. Choose from 4-5 different patterns then take away instructions so you can continue hooking at home! All materials provided, including hook and assorted yarns.
PLEASE NOTE: This is not an absolute beginner’s workshop. You should be able to create a simple chain and double crochet before coming to class. We do not teach the basic stitches in this workshop. To learn them, try our Crocheted Fashion Accessories class.

Additional information
Catherine Hirst learned to crochet as a little girl from her grandmother. She quickly added knitting and embroidery to her repertoire and has been creating handmade clothing and accessories ever since. ‘I always have half a dozen projects on the go, because I get so excited to try a new pattern or design idea,’ says Catherine. ‘I’m inspired by so many things in London: from the skirt of a woman who passes me on the street, to the architecture of the old buildings.’ Catherine has taught knitting, crochet, and embroidery for more than a decade to groups and individuals in Britain, the United States, and France.
