Additional information
Catherine Hirst learned to crochet as a little girl from her grandmother. She quickly added knitting and embroidery to her repertoire and has been creating handmade clothing and accessories ever since. ‘I always have half a dozen projects on the go, because I get so excited to try a new pattern or design idea,’ says Catherine. ‘I’m inspired by so many things in London: from the skirt of a woman who passes me on the street, to the architecture of the old buildings.’ Catherine has taught knitting, crochet, and embroidery for more than a decade to groups and individuals in Britain, the United States, and France. She the author of Teeny Tiny Crochet and Granny Square Crochet (both CICO Books), and the upcoming Knitted Letters (Quintet, published April 2013)
