Workshops
Soap making

Handmade soap is long-lasting, moisturising, and creates heaps of creamy bubbles!
In this three-hour workshop, you’ll learn the chemical process used to create soap, find out how to safely use and store caustic soda (also known as lye), work with coconut, olive and other oils, choose essential oils, botanicals and other natural additives, plus learn to mould, cure and care for your soap.
We’ll split into three small groups then select recipes to make 5-6 bars of soap per person, plus take home our special planet-friendly ‘base’ recipe and supplier details so you can make more bars at home!
Please note that your soap will be ready to take home after class, but will need to cure for 3-4 weeks before using.

Additional information
Sarah Miller learned the art and science of cold process soap making in 2008 and has not bought a bar of soap in a shop since. She finds soap making – and teaching the craft – a great way to bring a creative streak to her interest in ecologically sound, ‘DIY’ living. She loves experimenting with different scents and textures, and enjoys using something homemade every time she stands at a sink.
