Create a gently fitted shift dress – destined to become your wardrobe staple! We’ll help you tailor the dress to your shape and style every step of the way, including ensuring the bust fits correctly.

*Measure your dress size correctly
*Line your garment
*Insert curved front and back darts
*Stitch curved neckline and arm holes
*Insert a concealed back zipper
*Vary the length and neckline shape as desired
*Take home a pattern and instructions

This pattern fits fits dress size 4-20, cup size A, B, C and D. Click here for fabric suggestions and materials list.

Some homework is required between classes using your home sewing machine (or book onto two complimentary hours in our sewing cafe).

PLEASE NOTE: This is not a beginner’s workshop, but a great dress-making class for someone with recent sewing machine experience. Please know how to sew unaided and confidently use a machine with a few projects under your belt when you arrive to class.

(If you haven’t sewn recently, please begin your sewing journey with one of our Intro to Sewing Machine workshops: Drawstring bag, Cushion Cover or Tote Bags)

  • Level: Intermediate
  • Course length: Two 3-hour sessions
