Flare skirt

swish skirt

Swingy skirts are back! You’ll use printed or plain fabric (or a combination as shown) plus your waist measurement to sew your own skirt. No complicated pattern needed. You’ll learn to set an invisible zipper, attach a waistband, work with interfacing, and learn about different hem finishing techniques. Please bring cotton fabric, zipper and thread to match, and a packed lunch; we’ll provide the rest. Prerequisite: Intro to Sewing Machine (try one of these classes: 1, 2, or 3) or equivalent skills. (More about our sewing levels here.)

Additional information

Kristina Nilsson inherited an interest in fashion and sewing from her grandmother, who owned a haberdashery shop. After finishing school, Kristina left her home country of Sweden and moved to the UK to study Fashion Design Womenswear at the London College of Fashion. While studying, she gained valuable experience working in the studios of Giles and Mulberry. After showing her graduate collection at the Royal Academy of Arts, Kristina was snapped up by a leading high street retailer to design its tailoring range. With her sights set on bigger things, Kristina is currently designing the first collection for her own label The Potion, which will launch in Spring 2009.
