Additional information
Kathy Schicker is a textile designer who recently graduated from the Textiles Futures MA at Central Saint Martins College. She specialises in high-end image-based weaving for interiors and has an established career, creating commissioned-based work and exhibiting worldwide.
‘I am inspired by the beauty, simplicity and skill of Japanese architecture and applied arts,’ she says, her words reflected in the delicate and clean textures of her textiles. Kathy increasingly uses new materials, computer-aided design and industrial processes to create her textiles, but hand-made and craft-based skills remain as important to her as new developments and technology. She is always ready to learn more and finds that a great excuse to fill the house with even more yarns, fabric and sewing paraphernalia, which one day will come to good use.
