Knockout Knickers

Tired of boring high street knickers? Sew your own! You’ll choose from a wide selection of fabrics to make a pair of side-tie or regular seam briefs in class, then take away patterns and instructions to create more at home.

You’ll learn to:
- Take your measurements correctly
- Cut fabric to size on the bias
- Insert elastic at hips and legs
- Trim with ribbons, roses and more
- Take home a pattern to keep stitching at home.
PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT an absolute beginner’s sewing class. You should be confident sewing straight and curved seams as inserting elastic can be tricky! If you haven’t sewn recently, start your sewing journey with one of our Learn to Sew workshops and have a few projects under your belt before coming to class: Cushion Cover or Tote Bags)

Additional information
Ruka Johnson is a freelance costume designer based in London. Having always been creative, she began making nipple tassels whilst studying for a degree at London College Of Fashion. This led to a contract to design and manufacture the tassels for international luxury lingerie retailer Myla, single handedly supplying many of their UK stores including Selfridges and Harrods.
She later branched out from accessories into underwear, creating contemporary lingerie brand Sugarlesque. In early 2011 she opened a pop-up lingerie boutique in central London, producing bespoke lingerie from a workshop at the back of the shop. In 2012 she worked as an assistant to the legendary Fiona Doran (aka ‘Mrs. Jones’), creating beautiful costumes and clothing for stage and screen and styling on location shoots. Ruka now works from her studio in London, producing costumes for stage and screen.
