Paper Cutting Art
The age-old tradition of paper cutting has never been more popular, thanks to the talent of contemporary artists such as Rob Ryan.
In this workshop, you’ll learn more about this timeless craft – which has its roots in 6th Century China and in European folk art – then create an intricate cutting of your own design from a single sheet of paper!
You may then use the cutting as a piece of art or you could scan it to use as artwork for wedding invitations, T-shirt designs, or anything else that strikes your fancy!
- Design, draw and create at least one intricate cutting
- Mounting stock and protective envelope included
- Learn tips for permanent mounting and framing
- All materials and use of specialist tools provided
We will also have cutting knives, cutting mats and papers available for purchase after class.

Learn to Crochet
Crochet is the new knitting! Learn how in this beginner’s workshop and leave with a wonderfully versatile skill, plus plenty of ideas for taking your new skills forward.
In this 3-hour session, you’ll learn to:
- Understand yarn weights, hook sizes, gauge & tension
- Comfortably hold hook and yarn
- Chain, double crochet, and treble crochet
- Leave with crocheted samples plus start on a flower
- All materials provided, including wool & crochet hook
- Take home a detailed instruction pack
- No previous crochet experience needed.

Essential Skills: Basic Alterations
Tired of paying a tailor for simple alterations and repairs? In this Basic Alterations workshop (part of our new Essential Skills series), you’ll learn the skills that will last you a lifetime! No previous hand or sewing machine skills required.
In this 3-hour workshop, you’ll learn:
- Basic hand sewing stitches and when to use them
- Taking up hems by hand or machine
- Darning your knitwear
- Securely affixing buttons
- Mending a seam
- No previous sewing experience required
Please bring one or two articles of clothing to repair (please stick to the methods above). We may not get to finish both in class, but bring them along and we’ll talk you through them!

Learn how to use a sewing machine and create a gorgeous removable cushion cover and pad with a detachable floral corsage.
- Learn basic sewing tips and terminology and tips
- Pin and cut using a basic paper pattern
- Thread a machine, wind a bobbin, and stitch seams
- Fabric, thread and cushion pad provided
